The trekking to the Larino and Corno Forts, Valle del Chiese, in the company of Mountain Friends is suitable for everyone. A fascinating mix of nature, history and ethnography.
Starting from the town of Roncone, or rather from its hamlet of Fontanedo, you reach the town of Lardaro and then the Larino fort, part of the first real barrier, erected in 1860.
A path climbs up the mountain passing near waterfalls, trenches, caves and very suggestive defensive positions. It will allow us to rediscover the ancient connection between the Larino fort and the Corno fort above. Forte Corno sits on a rocky spur, adapting its conformation to that of the rock in a perfect mix between an ancient castle and a new camouflage and innovative fortification. A guided tour will allow you to discover features, secrets and meanders in a labyrinth of rooms, warehouses and gunboats. Once you have re-emerged from the fort and regained strength in the area next to the fortifications equipped with running water and services, the return is guaranteed by the road that connected Fort Corno to the town of Roncone and which men, women and animals had to travel to supply the Corno and the front lines with all kinds of supplies, equipment and materials.
