The hike to Refuge "Città di Trento" al Mandron is a fascinating one. What you will discover accompanied by the Guides of Pinzolo Val Rendena - Mountain Friends - is not immediately visible: it is an historical and natural trip.
The Refuge Mandrone "City of Trento" is located next to the Lakes of Mandron. The hike, in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, is a typical stage to approach the Lobbie and Adamello peaks. It lies in a magnificent position on a plateau in front of the Adamello Glacier, the largest of the Italian Alps.
Along the trail you will relive the tragic events of World War 1.
During the so-called White War the Mandrone area was the scene of military actions. The surroundings of the refuge are still full reminders: walkways, lookout posts, trenches and small military cemetery. A beautiful church, built with local granite, complete the landscape surrounding the refuge. The position of Mandron is strategic for hiking on the glacier.
