VIA FERRATA COURSE

Back

Suitable for everyone

Trentino and Alto Adige offer many via ferrata, accessible in every season, from the Sarca Valley to the Brenta Dolomites and Val Senales.

The Pinzolo Val Rendena Alpine Guides - Mountain Friends are organizing a via ferrata course on Sundays in May 2025, open to anyone who wants to explore the exciting world of equipped trails. This is a wonderful and fascinating activity, but it requires a solid foundation of essential knowledge to be practiced safely and consciously. The guides’ task will be to teach you the fundamental skills needed to navigate and understand the different terrains typical of these routes. With the right commitment, by the end of the course, you will have learned the main movement techniques, the correct use of equipment, the rules to follow, and the behaviors to adopt for your own safety and that of others.

The course includes four sessions on Sundays in May:

May 4: Preore Via Ferrata + "La Signora delle Acque" at Passo Ballino. The Preore via ferrata, although short, presents all the typical features of an equipped trail: vertical sections where you need to carefully place your feet on rock holds, traverses, descending climbing sections, and a suspended bridge. With no approach hike and an alternating pattern of difficult sections and normal trails, it is particularly suitable for technical instruction. In the afternoon, participants will drive to Passo Ballino to tackle the “Signora delle Acque” via ferrata, which involves climbing around 100 meters of rock face next to a waterfall. Meeting point: Preore rock climbing gym at 8:30 AM.

May 11: Susatti Via Ferrata to Cima Capi, departing from Biacesa in Val di Ledro.A panoramic via ferrata leading to Cima Capi, offering breathtaking views over Lake Garda. The route takes about 4 hours round trip. Meeting point: Tione church at 8:30 AM.

May 18: Montalbano Via Ferrata in Mori. This via ferrata is considered one of the most challenging in the region, featuring many exposed traverses and athletic moves, with a spectacular view over the town of Mori. Meeting point: Tione church at 8:30 AM.

May 25: Final outing on one of the most beautiful via ferratas in South Tyrol: the Hoachwool Via Ferrata in Naturno. This route is highly athletic and adrenaline-inducing, featuring a long suspended bridge. It also has historical significance, as it follows the old Val Senales-Naturno irrigation system. This final outing will put all the skills learned in previous sessions to the test. Meeting point: Tione church at 8:00 AM.
